The X Factor

Series 9 - Episode 14

It’s hard to believe anything will top the drama of the first live results show when Louis Walsh did a lengthy and ludicrous bit of judge-dithering that sent Rylan and Carolynne to “Jedlock” and Gary Barlow storming off set. And of course it’s too soon for us to know whether the fiasco infuriated audiences so much they’ve turned off or are watching avidly for the next spectacular crisis.

Still, allowing for any unforeseen twists, there should be 11 acts hoping to hear the judges say they “nailed it/ owned that stage/made that song your own”, rather than Dermot O’Leary’s farewell mantra “Let’s look at your time in the competition”.

About this programme

14/21. After another tense sing-off last week, the judges decided Melanie Masson was out of the competition, leaving District3 to sing again tonight, along with the other 10 remaining finalists. Performing club classics, they're hoping to impress the judges and the voting public in a bid to avoid being in the bottom two tomorrow night. Gary Barlow is in charge of the over-28s, Nicole Scherzinger has got the boys, Tulisa looks after the girls and Louis Walsh has the groups. Dermot O'Leary hosts.
