Could Vicente be any more of a stereotyped TV gangster? There he is with his cashmere V-neck, the hairy chest, the henchmen who never get to sit down and – best of all – his veiled threats, “Dis could be very bad for your familee, Meester Ewing” being his current favourite.
And indeed, it does get dicey for John Ross, who receives a pasting from some Latino hoods while in line for the prison phone. In response,
Sue Ellen crosses a line and fears she’s jeopardised her chance to be governor. Although why nobody’s brought up the fact that she spent the 1980s passing out drunk and getting locked away in sanatoriums is a mystery.
About this programme
8/10. John Ross is arrested for Veronica's murder and Sue Ellen hires a leading criminal attorney to defend him. Meanwhile, Vicente tells Bobby he will take ownership of Southfork unless the oil contract is fulfilled - reinforcing his message by having John Ross beaten up in prison. The news brings JR back to Dallas, but he keeps his return a secret and sneaks into the hospital to check that his son is okay.
