About this programme

Re-creating the freezing wastelands of the Ice Age 30,000 years ago, as worsening winter conditions force a mammoth herd to head south for the relative safety of an Alpine valley. The journey is fraught with danger as frozen bogs line the path and their every move is watched by the predatory eyes of a hungry cave lion, while a group of Neanderthals lie in ambush in preparation for the biggest hunt of the year.
