Take Your Daughter to Work Day probably sounded a great idea to widower Gerald Abbott (Jonathan Cullen). However, it backfires when his well-intentioned teenage daughter Grace (Bessie Cursons) interferes in his relationship with his colleague Ruby (Jennifer Biddall). Poor Gerald gets so worked up, the stress agitates his angina.
Meanwhile, Rose Williams (Helen Cotterill) returns to the Mill, believing she has bowel cancer. Al tells Mandy that the woman is a time-waster, but Mandy challenges his view. Will these two ever agree on anything?
