Benissimo! BBC4 banishes Nordic gloom from Saturdays for
a 12-week break in the sun. They’ve already shown the first ten Italian films starring Luca Zingaretti as the big-hearted Sicilian detective, and now air the remainder, made from 2005 and coming bang up to date.
Turning Point (based on Andrea Camilleri’s novel Rounding the Mark) starts with the normally unflappable Salvo fuming at police corruption and considering resignation. He’s even more vexed when his morning dip in the Med is interrupted by a floating cadaver. But his interest is piqued by an illegal immigrant boy who keeps running away from his own mother.
