Apart from the overwhelming sense of vocation, one appeal of a medical career is a solid wage. On her first day at The Mill, the whereabouts of Dr Jas Khella’s (Vineeta Rishi) GP pay packet are unclear – she’s broke, and she wants to sleep on Kevin’s sofa.
For this and other reasons, she’s not universally popular among staff, but the patients, including elderly friends Bella and Christine, respond well to her authority; so well, in fact, that they compete to be declared the most ill. Away from the surgery and given short shrift by Zara, Daniel struggles looking after baby Joe.
