I still reckon this series would, with a few tweaks, work best on CBBC, scheduled for older children and renamed something like Staggering Science. The idea is that James May takes us on a playfully brisk canter through a scientific topic, with the help of animation and retro library clips that pop and whizz in a way designed to grip the feeblest of attention spans. Tonight’s subject is Albert Einstein; if you’ve ever longed for an explanation of E=mc2 involving marmalade and earwax, this is the programme for you.
About this programme
1/6. The Top Gear presenter embarks on another light-hearted voyage of discovery, answering questions that have always baffled him on a particular subject. He begins by finding out about German physicist Albert Einstein. Using a combination of animation and motion graphics, James focuses on such topics as - How did a man falling off a roof change the universe? Who wanted Einstein for president? And what happened to his brain?
