In these straitened times, journalist Storm Theunissen wonders if there is a way to make a quick buck from selling her body. She decides against flogging her kidney in a back alley or becoming a prostitute. She does, however, find a fetish website where she can sell clippings and fluid. From there the titillating tone becomes more sober as she confronts the bleak reality of working as a lap dancer, and explores the reality of selling eggs for IVF. It’s a salutary lesson in treasuring your body.
About this programme
Film-maker Storm Theunissen sets out to see how much money she can generate by selling every part of her body that she lawfully can. She finds out about a company that purchases everything from bunions to blister fluid, as well as working in a lap-dancing club, and looks into egg-brokering for IVF in Hollywood as she examines the ethics and legality of the body-part industry. Part of the First Cut strand.
