It is a truth universally acknowledged that participants of TV quizzes probably watch other programmes, too. In the first heat of the new series, it’s likely to come in handy. Questions on Jane Austen should be aided by the recollection of TV’s more faithful adaptations, the life and times of Elizabeth I has been covered on screen a fair bit, and Fawlty Towers – well, anyone with a pulse and a TV licence should be able to have a crack. For those who like to get out of the house, there’s also Gilbert and Sullivan.
