Keri-Anne Payne won silver for Britain in the 10km women's marathon in Beijing, and since then she has won the world championships, too. Now she will be swimming in the cooler waters of the Serpentine.
The open water swim is a bit like the Tour de France. You try to get directly behind someone’s feet, or next to their hip, and get swept along in their slipstream, using less energy yourself. But Keri-Anne is very confident, and she likes leading from the front. She is the one to beat, and the other swimmers will be very aware of her abilities this time round.
If all goes well, 2012 could be a very good year for Payne – she is marrying fellow Team GB swimmer David Carry in September.
