About this programme
John Waite investigates the plight of 4,500 Irish soldiers who were punished for deserting their own neutral army to join the fight against fascism during World War Two. Stripped of all pay and pension rights, and prevented from gaining employment paid for by state funds, the men also feared rearrest and were treated as pariahs. Last in the series.
