My Kidney and Me

My Kidney and Me
Radio Times
Review by:
Alison Graham

Tom is a personable 26-year-old who wants to give one of his kidneys
to a stranger. He is an “altruistic donor”, one of a tiny band of remarkable people. This short film follows Tom as he prepares for and has the operation.

There’s some exploration of why Tom wants to do something so bold and potentially risky: a good friend died without warning. When he later read about altruistic donors, Tom knew it was for him: “I haven’t had a moment of doubt.”
