About this programme

Live from London's Royal Albert Hall, The Angry Planet, Bob Chilcott's new environmental cantata for unaccompanied choirs, which sets specially written words by Charles Bennett exploring humanity's complex and often destructive relationship with the natural world. The music brings together singers young and old, children and adults, professionals and amateurs - more than 600 voices raised in song together with a signing choir for hearing impaired children. Ben Parry's Flame then takes the image of the Olympic torch as a beacon of light, life and understanding. Presented by Catherine Bott. Ruby Hughes (soprano), Children's Choirs from London Boroughs, Signing Choir from Great Baddow High School, National Youth Choir of Great Britain, Bach Choir, BBC Singers, conductor David Hill. Bob Chilcott: The Angry Planet (first performance). Ben Parry: Flame.
