Matthew Sweet returns for a second series of the popular debate show set in a pub, where each week, professionals and bar-stool philosophers come together to think through a paradoxical problem. This week’s conundrum deals with the order of simulacrum or, simply put, whether an imitation can ever live up to an original design.
On hand to set the record straight is the not-so-classic soul group the Drifters, whose members have been continuously recycled since 1953. The question is, are they the real deal? Combining academic thought and public opinion, The Philosopher’s Arms is a niche, but enjoyable treat for inquisitors and quibblers alike.
