24 Hours in A&E

Series 2 - Episode 12

The maternal instinct is the theme here, although not just the bond between mums and kids. There are plenty of other examples of caring. For instance, it’s heart-warming to see two teenage girls bring in an injured lad they’ve only just met at a party because none of his mates could be bothered. And there’s another of those role-swap situations, with a middle-aged daughter lovingly looking after her elderly dad, who has had a mild stroke.

But the most moving story is about a mother and baby: 14-week-old Jaziah is having severe breathing difficulties and his fearful 19-year-old mother is well aware there’s a chance he won’t survive.
