“It’s like bleeding Beirut round here,” screamed Dixie during a genuinely frightening scene in yesterday’s episode when the ambulance was surrounded by rioters. But in today’s conclusion things get much worse.
As the riots on the Somerdale Estate rage on, one female police officer has been petrol bombed and another has a potentially fatal stab wound, while attempts by Holby’s A&E staff to treat injured patients are hampered by rioters. The moralising tone comes through loud and clear, with everyone – from Jordan through Lloyd and Scarlett to the dad of little Nino – learning something from this sorry state of affairs.

Part two of two. The disturbance at the vigil for Wesley Joyce has descended into a full-scale riot, with Scarlett swept up in the excitement of the moment - and when she finds herself in a face-off with the police, she is unsure which way to turn. Meanwhile, Dixie and Jeff are sent out to pick up Yvonne, only to realise she is critically injured and needs immediate attention - so when Jordan arrives at the scene he is forced to put his feelings in check to perform life-saving surgery on his girlfriend, with whom he was arguing just hours earlier.
