London 2012 marks the first time that Team GB will compete in the men’s football since the 1960 games in Rome, and the first ever appearance for the women’s team at an Olympic event. It’s been a long wait, but today’s double bill of warm-ups will give us a good indication of our chances before the action proper gets under way in five days’ time.

Both teams face a tough test as they take on two of the gold-medal favourites at Middlesbrough’s Riverside Stadium. The women play Sweden at 4pm, while Stuart Pearce’s men kick off at 7.45pm against a Brazilian team crammed full of samba stars like Neymar and Hulk.

About this programme

Great Britain v Brazil (Kick-off 7.45pm). Gabby Logan returns to present coverage of today's second international friendly at the Riverside Stadium in Middlesbrough, this time featuring men's teams. As with the women's squad, this is the only fixture Stuart Pearce's side will contest prior to the Games, and they have elected to face arguably the strongest nation set to feature at London 2012. While Team GB has only recently been put together, the Brazilians are a much more settled unit, and proved themselves to be formidable when winning the 2011 South American Youth Championship. With commentary by Jonathan Pearce and Mark Bright, analysis from Robbie Savage, and reports from Garth Crooks.
