Put away that fancy Aga-sized BBQ and forget about your Glyndbourne-ready champagne hamper. Jamie Oliver’s style of outdoor cooking is, as he admits himself, pretty crude. And as if to prove it he squishes whole avocados and tomatoes by hand to make a rough guacamole.
But then it’s bish-bash, boisterous fun (especially when he debags friend Gennaro Contaldo who’s shinned up a tree to forage for wild plums) and makes you yearn for sunshine, music, a campfire - and Jamie to cook spit-roasted chickens, Moroccan lamb burgers and a version of chilli con carne made with beef brisket.
About this programme
3/3. Another selection of summer dishes by Jamie Oliver, who demonstrates how to make a portable chilli for a festival picnic, before Gennaro Contaldo joins him to prepare spit-roast chicken over a fire pit. Jamie also cooks spicy Moroccan lamb burgers. Last in the series.
