Imagine box-office blockbuster Ocean’s Eleven transplanted to Edinburgh, but rather than hunky George Clooney and Brad Pitt looting a plush Los Angeles casino, our anti-heroes are novice thieves looting a library. Oh yes, and three of them are entangled in a lesbian love triangle.
This heist drama is as deliciously silly as it sounds, making up in wryness what it lacks in Hollywood glamour. Our leading lady is Amber, daughter of a legendary lawbreaker who recently died, bequeathing her an unfinished job: to steal a 17th-century dictionary of criminal language (hence the curious title) before it is sold to the Americans.
Romantic squabbles aside, the gang’s cunning plan is just about on course when they learn that an old foe is also eyeing up their prize...
