The Finder

Series 1 - 1. An Orphan Walks into a Bar

A popular fixture of the crime drama is the goofy sleuth, who can either be quirky (Psych), troubled (The Mentalist) or slightly out of step with societal norms (Monk). In The Finder, we have a combination of all three qualities in Walter Sherman (Geoff Stults), an Iraq war veteran whose vaguely defined brain injury has given him the ability to find the unfindable. It’s also, of course, made him winningly eccentric but difficult to work with.

Following a try-out appearance in Bones, Walter now gets his own series, ably assisted by Green Mile man-mountain Michael Clarke Duncan. This pilot centres on the search for a missing father and is slick if undemanding mystery fare.
