The promise for the overhauled breakfast show is that it will play twice as many songs per hour and the tired zoo format will be wound down so that new host Nick Grimshaw can “deliver a show without a cast of characters around him”.

Time will tell if this is a wise decision: it sounds like a good idea, but Britain’s youth will be the ultimate judge of that.
