The Simpsons

Series 23 - 16. How I Wet Your Mother

Radio Times
Review by:
David Crawford

This is worth watching to see Homer do the one embarrassing thing he’s never done. Also because that one embarrassing thing acts as a springboard for a sly parody of Christopher Nolan’s mind-meltingly baffling film, Inception, as the whole Simpson family jumps inside Homer’s subconscious to get to the root cause of that one embarrassing thing he keeps doing.

As you’d expect, everything is as mad as a coffin of fishes in there, even though Glenn Close adds a dollop of saccharine as Homer’s dead mum – though she does redeem herself in the comedy stakes by murdering Talking Heads’ Dream Operator in duet with David Byrne.

About this programme

16/22. Homer suffers a bout of incontinence and has to wear a nappy, forcing Marge to ask eccentric boffin Professor Frink to help determine the cause of his condition. With the use of a dream machine, Frink breaks into Homer's subconscious mind where a string of insecurities are exposed, including one involving his late mother.
