The successes of The Reunion are down to two things: the first is how it draws in so many experts and different perspectives on a notable event; and the second is purely down to Sue McGregor’s knack of getting her guests to tell their stories as if for the first time.
This edition sees the reunion of the creators of Dolly the cloned sheep, whose birth was instrumental in the hope of treating conditions such as motor neurone disease and Parkinson’s. What change did it make, and why was her birth so controversial?
About this programme
Sue MacGregor reunites people involved in the 1997 creation of Dolly the cloned sheep, a scientific breakthrough that sparked global interest and debate and is regarded as one of the most controversial in history. Those who contributed include project leader Ian Wilmut, research leader Keith Campbell, surgeon Marjorie Ritchie, anaesthetist John Bracken and scientist Bill Ritchie, who implemented the cloning theory.
