The London 2012 carnival culminates with a victory parade through the heart of the capital. Over 800 Olympic and Paralympic athletes travel on 21 floats from Mansion House to Buckingham Palace, via St Paul’s Cathedral, Trafalgar Square and The Mall.
BBC1, Channel 4 and Sky will all be jostling for position, but even the hive of presenters buzzing around Farah, Ennis, Hoy and co cannot get in the way of all Britain’s brightest athletic generation has achieved. One last emotional glance at this unassuming collection of heroes may keep the flame burning just a little longer.
