“Blood may be thicker than water, but oil is thicker than both.” Guess who comes up with this maxim? Yes, of course, it’s that devil JR, back with his brother Bobby (once again talking through clenched teeth), ex-wife Sue Ellen (looking miraculously well preserved) and a fresh generation of Ewings who look set to repeat the mistakes of their mommas and daddies.
This all-new and tremendously enjoyable Dallas may have a 21st-century sheen and zip, but when it comes down to it, not much else has really changed. Battles continue to be fought over business, land and loyalties, while emotional heartache is still writ as large as a ten-gallon hat. And despite there being younger faces in the cast, the biggest draw remains JR (Larry Hagman), who’s determined to stop his beloved Southfork ranch being sold off.
Bobby may be sick of his family “devouring itself over money”, but it looks as if he’ll have to put up with it for a good while yet.

1/10. Updated version of the soap, following the glamorous lives and vicious feuds of Texas oil dynasty the Ewings in the 21st century. The series begins with Bobby's son Christopher preparing to marry his fiancee Rebecca, a grand occasion that has brought the whole family back to Southfork Ranch. However, Bobby is hiding a terrible secret - while John Ross Ewing, son of notorious schemer JR, has been doing some dodgy deals that threaten to tear the clan apart once more. Starring Josh Henderson, Jesse Metcalfe and Jordana Brewster, as well as original cast members Larry Hagman, Patrick Duffy and Linda Gray.
