The stamina of David Weir is truly astounding – having competed in the 5,000m and 1500m, he now defends his 800m crown before racing in the marathon on Sunday. The secret of his success? His gloves, says Tanni Grey-Thompson: “Dave races on very soft gloves. Virtually everyone else races on solid plastic gloves, so as they change speed you can hear their hands slapping against the chair. But with Dave you can’t.”

There's also the battle of the blade runners, as Oscar Pistorius tries to fend off Team GB’s Jonnie Peacock.

About this programme

Clare Balding and Ade Adepitan present continuing coverage of the 2012 Paralympics from London, featuring athletics, wheelchair basketball and wheelchair rugby. A busy evening at the Olympic Stadium includes the possibility of Hannah Cockroft looking to complete a sprint double in the final of the women's T34 200m, and Dan Greaves in the men's F44 discus final. Stefanie Reid is a potential gold hope in the women's T44 200m final, as is Libby Clegg in the women's T12 200m final, while Ben Rushgrove and Paul Blake will be targeting glory in the finals of the men's T36 200m and T36 800m respectively. At 9.46 attention turns to David Weir, as the Londoner seeks to retain the T54 800m title he won in Beijing and claim his third gold of the Games, followed by the showpiece occasion of the evening - the men's T44 100m final - which will see South Africa's Oscar Pistorius face the man who surprisingly beat him in the T44 200m final, Alan Fonteles Cardoso Oliveira of Brazil, and Britain's Jonnie Peacock, who was the fastest qualifier. With commentary by John Rawling and Rob Walker. Elsewhere, the men's wheelchair basketball has reached the semi-final stage at the North Greenwich Arena, with Great Britain in action against Canada, and the hosts take on France in the wheelchair rugby qualifiers at the Basketball Arena.
