Jackie Clune loves to start sentences with “Well, when I was a lesbian…” which is the theme of this fascinating documentary. Clune came out as a very public lesbian in 1988, and spent over a decade in relationships with women. Twelve years later she began dating men and now she is a married mother of four (including triplets) living in the suburbs.
Her mission is to investigate shifts in sexuality with the help of other “hasbians” and “yestergays”, including The Long Firm author Jake Arnott. How does it happen? Is it a sedate scamper to the straight end of the ballroom or a case of suddenly falling for a member of the opposite sex? Don’t expect talk of “conversion” for there are many shades of gay along this spectrum of sexuality.
