It wouldn’t be a soap wedding without complications but Rita being kidnapped by walking Crimewatch photofit Rick will definitely take some beating. The danger for the bride-to-be is that she’s going to end up where so many Corrie characters have gone before – face down in the canal. And with a shampoo-and-set which must weigh two stone, that can’t be good news.

Back on the Street and the Jubilee fancy dress party is in full swing. David is Sid Vicious, Stella is Dusty Springfield and Steve is John Lennon, albeit one who’s had too many of Roy’s fry-ups. Athough an opportunity has definitely been missed in Dev becoming Adam Ant – surely he was a shoo-in for David Essex?
