Now Bear and Discovery have parted company, we won’t be seeing too many more Born Survivor outings, but if the channel wants a replacement, Jake Gyllenhaal would be perfect. The actor’s handsome, brave and good-humoured as Bear takes him on a short Icelandic adventure. Not that they have time to enjoy the scenery: once the helicopter drops them off they are beset by truly appalling conditions. A few off-colour jokes and a Tyrolean traverse on a rope over a fearsome gorge help bond the pair in adversity.
