“Legendary” is a title bandied about a bit recklessly these days — especially among showbiz types. But in the world of broadcasting if anyone deserved the status it’s Annie Nightingale, Radio 1’s first female DJ and still going strong, with numerous awards to her name and a comprehensive knowledge of popular music accumulated over her 40-plus years with the corporation.

Her knowledge will be put to entertaining use in this, the latest of her Eternal Jukebox shows, and it’s a simple but effective idea: a selection of song pairs that have some sort of unexpected (OK, sometimes tenuous) link. Think, say, of Rhiannon by Fleetwood Mac coupled with a song by Rihanna. Loadsa fun.
