It’s rare to feel sympathy for Ian Beale. However, after Adam Woodyatt’s superb performance in the wedding episode, EastEnders fans will still be sniffling over Ian’s disturbing emotional breakdown and fretting over his equally distressing departure.
On-screen daughter Lucy has now worked out that her dad’s disappeared (did she really think he’d leave a burning pancake on the hob to go off on a cruise wearing just his pyjamas?) and, at the suggestion of an unusually helpful Phil, goes through Ian’s online bank statements. A payment to a Rochester hotel sends the unholy alliance of Lucy and Phil racing to the Medway town.
About this programme
Derek is thrilled when Alice reveals she has read his letter and wants to spend some time with him. However, just as they look to have reached a new understanding, a confrontation with Billy ruins everything. Lucy and Phil head to a hotel where Ian has made a payment, and Michael's scheme comes close to unravelling when Roxy inspects the Vic's bank account. Meanwhile, Andrew has an unpleasant encounter with a reporter.
