As you once again shake off your brolly and wipe mud from your wellies, you might be surprised to learn that it’s actually supposed to be spring. Which, of course, means Springwatch and the return of that chortling threesome Chris Packham, Michaela Strachan and Martin Hughes-Games.
The trio, from their base at the Ynys-hir nature reserve in mid-Wales, will present three weeks of live and interactive coverage, with 30 mini cameras following the lives of birds and wildlife in the area.
Each week will have a theme; this week we explore life in the undergrowth. As ever, Springwatch is keen for us all to get out there and get back to nature, so there will be challenges for children, and viewers will be asked to take part in a study of garden birds.
About this programme
1/12. New series. Chris Packham, Michaela Strachan and Martin Hughes-Games head to Ynys-hir nature reserve in mid-Wales to take a look at the area's wildlife, beginning with a fox family caring for more than 10 cubs, and hidden-camera footage of kingfishers trying to raise their young. Plus, the presenters keep an eye out for local barn owls, blue tits and pied flycatchers.
