Mitch Larsen, mother of murdered Rosie, is still living in a drab motel. But she finds a Rosie-substitute, a grubby teenage girl at the mercy of men who use her and cast her aside. The runaway is just one of The Killing’s population of teens with terrible childhoods. These include detective Linden’s ill-used son Jack and, as we learn, Linden herself.
Though she is no longer a teen, she confides in another unhappy young drifter, a boy who could hold some clues to Rosie Larsen’s killer, about her life in care. The Killing has been bumping along the bottom of the TV drama pond for far too long now, but there are signs things could be on the up when we learn why Rosie was so upset during her last day alive.
