Breakfast

Breakfast
Radio Times

Chris Gardner

Gone is the heyday of the traditional full English breakfast... or so I thought until I chanced upon a Sky TV programme on eating habits recently where this cheery woman was frying eggs, bacon, mushrooms and bread in 2cm of oil. “Just four days a week we have this for breakfast,” she assured us. At the other extreme there are those who skip it altogether. What’s that about?

Personally, I think there’s nothing wrong with porridge yet a recent article in The Times claimed that breakfasts should comprise mainly protein, and none of those beastly, sloth-inducing carbs. And by 10.30am the hunger pains are so bad you could eat a crate of doughnuts. What is the future of the British breakfast? If you’d like to know, then tune in and find out what presenter Tim Hayward thinks (and eats).
