You’re going to have to be very brave to get through this. Almost as brave as 11-year-old Sol, who has a seriously defective heart but who asks incredibly perceptive questions about his imminent transplant operation before his bottom lip finally trembles. Yours will tremble, too.
This third episode in the series observes the work of the hospital’s cardiologists and also introduces us to Ellie, Joe and Holly, three little tots who are on Berlin Heart machines (a pump to give the heart a bit of a rest, as one consultant puts it) while they wait — possibly for a year — to get a donor heart. Simply watching what their parents go through is unbearable.
