Later Live - with Jools Holland
Radio Times
Review by:
Jack Seale

True eclecticism defines Jools’s halo of creativity in this edition — the headline act is probably Paloma Faith, whose second album is imminent. Joining her are spectral duo Beach House, angel-voiced reggae legend Jimmy Cliff, theatrical Swedish rockers the Hives, and jazz-tinged multi-instrumentalist Esperanza Spalding (she sings and plays double bass!). Filling the young English singer/songwriter slot is Jake Bugg, a skiffly, Dylanesque urchin from Nottingham.

About this programme

6/6. Legendary Jamaican musician Jimmy Cliff returns to the studio with songs from Re:Birth, his first album in seven years. Swedish rockers the Hives perform material from fifth album Lex Hives, Paloma Faith plays a tune from Fall to Grace at the piano, and Grammy winner Esperanza Spalding makes her UK TV debut. Also performing are American indie-pop duo Beach House and Nottingham-born singer-songwriter Jake Bugg. Last in the series. Extended edition on Friday at 12.05am.
