Stuart Jessup and his bouncy springer spaniel, Poppy, are engaged on a 2,500-mile walk around England to raise money for and awareness of two mental-health charities. Stuart and Poppy aim to walk 15 miles a day, spending their nights in a camper van that Stuart’s wife, Kate, drives to different locations for him.
As presenter Clare Balding comments after she’s been chatting to them for a while, it’s a very primitive life — all open road, fresh air, limited resources and no luxuries — but since Stuart started the walk his own depression has lifted.
Clare walks with dog owners in every edition of this latest series, but starts with this truly uplifting and inspiring story on the east coast of Yorkshire. To follow their route, use Ordnance Survey Map 301.
