About this programme

3/3. An exploration of how blacksmiths throughout history combined creativity and engineering to make items that served society's needs and changed how the world looked. The programme examines both artistic and mass-produced pieces, and considers the work of designers and smiths including Robert Adam, Jean Tijou, George Gilbert Scott, Robert Bakewell and John Tresilian.
