Celebrity Exposed

Series 1 - Episode 1

Radio Times

Geoff Ellis

Meet Richard Young, the celebrity photographer who pioneered what has become a way of life for an oversized scrum of modern-day paparazzi. This is an undemanding, gossipy stroll through the dawn of the celebrity age with a classy 70s pop soundtrack. It’s stuffed with cracking photos of Mick and Jerry, Paul and Linda, Rod, Freddie, Elton and pals. The extraordinary thing is, in those innocent days, national newspapers didn’t really know much about celebs — fortunately they had Young to gatecrash the parties and snap them at play. Elton recalls a gentler age here in a programme that finished too soon for me.
