Rugby coach Clive Woodward had a mantra he claimed was key to England winning the World Cup: Thinking Clearly Under Pressure, or TCUP for short. And yes, The Apprentice is all about TCUP, even if it gets chipped and cracked along the way. By all means come up with ideas or carp from the sidelines (and some candidates thrive on that), but when you’re project manager and you have to take quick decisions under the cosh, things get sweaty.
Not everyone can handle it. People who are cool and creative as spear-carriers don’t always cut it as generals, as we learn this week. The task is to buy market-stall tat from a wholesale warehouse and sell it to Essex folk. In a shocking development, spray tan proves popular.
About this programme
7/12. Katie has been fired after taking the blame for Phoenix's failure in the gourmet food task. Now the teams each spend £150 on wholesale goods and try to sell them on for a profit in Essex. Setting up in markets and shopping centres with mops, MP3 players, fake tans and false eyelashes, they must push their products hard and reinvest in the best sellers. As the challenge draws to a close, there is a big opportunity to shift remaining stock and two very different selling strategies emerge, but which will impress Alan Sugar the most?
