The latest addition to the teetering pile of hoarder documentaries involves dapper psychotherapist Stelios Kiosses. He will use convenational and alternative therapies to declutter the minds of people whose homes are heaving. You may find yourself heaving, too, when you see the inside of Nigel’s terraced house in Liverpool.
It’s not so much the tragic mountain of mess – rags, dead pot plants, 30 sewing machines, and so on – but what his cats have added to the nooks and crannies. Over many years. No wonder Stelios clutches a silk handkerchief to his nose.
But Nigel at least seems to have a willingness to change, and what lies beneath the junk is, in the end, almost magical.
