Sue MacGregor invites five people to share their experiences of the end of British colonial rule in Hong Kong in 1997, and discuss how their lives changed when the territory returned to Chinese control. Chris Patten, the last British governor of Hong Kong, diplomat Hugh Davies, legislator and pro-democracy campaigner Emily Lau, businessman David Tang and General Bryan Dutton recall the turbulent days that led up to the handover of power, with many uncertain how China would run the region in future.
