No Glastonbury this year – the Olympics have commandeered the nation’s Portaloo supply – but there are still plenty of live pop events. And you get a bit of Glasto flavour at Radio 1’s Hackney Weekend with a set from Jay-Z, who successfully headlined down in Somerset in 2008.
The evening’s coverage kicks off with R&B singer Emeli Sandé and sensitive balladeer Ed Sheeran, followed by multiple-personality rapper Nicki Minaj and British shouters Kasabian. After two solid hours of Jay-Z live, you can catch up with 2006 X Factor winner Leona Lewis and orangey pop star Rita Ora. Fearne “sick bag” Cotton leads the presenting team.
