2/3. As fighting intensifies in Afghanistan, the NHS volunteers and full-time Army surgeons attend to Royal Marines injured during the conflict. In charge of the military air ambulance is Lt Col Pete Davis, whose job is to keep the casualties alive until they reach the hospital, while trainee surgeon Major Hugo Gutherie awaits the arrival of the helicopter to put his training to the test.
