Series 2 - Episode 1

Don't Log Off

Alan Dein returns with his inviting series in which he locks himself away in a makeshift studio for days on end to talk to people around the world who responded to his Facebook page that said simply, “Talk to me”.

The stories he hears may be varied but there seems to be an underlying theme of sadness — loneliness, alienation, family estrangements and unhappy relationships. But that sadness is also cut by wonderment at the full incalculability of life, especially in the case of Jennifer from Nova Scotia whose friend from Ireland is marrying her ex-husband after meeting him on Facebook.

About this programme

1/3. Alan Dein discovers the real-life dramas behind people's social networking profiles, beginning with a 66-year-old widow in rural Texas and an 18-year-old Londoner with Asperger's syndrome who makes a living playing online poker. He also catches up with Jennifer in Nova Scotia, who featured in the last series and whose ex-husband is about to be released from jail and marry her best friend.
