Lantern-jawed crime scene investigator Nick Stokes arrives at a double shooting on Las Vegas’s “intercasino tram”, which sounds like the journey to Hell in so many ways.
But there’s a third body, that of a distinguished-looking grey-haired gentleman. Only he’s not dead. No, because it’s Ted Danson! Yes, the Ted Danson, formerly of Cheers and Damages, has joined CSI as the night shift’s laconic new boss, DB Russell. He replaces dreary Ray Langston (Laurence Fishburne, who decided not to return to the forensics procedural after two not very happy seasons).
Danson’s an interesting addition to the CSI cast, and presumably producers hope he will inject a bit of lightness and life into an increasingly tired drama. It’s early days, but it seems a good move. Danson’s great assets are his charm and his deft comedic touch. Sadly, there isn’t much of a central story. But never mind, because you’ll be watching Danson. And yes, doesn’t he look svelte?
About this programme
1/22. Ted Danson joins the cast as the team's new boss DB Russell, whose first job is to investigate a shootout on a tram that left two dead and three injured. The only physically unhurt passenger is a boy who is too traumatised to speak about the incident, leaving investigators struggling to determine what he saw - until Russell finds a way to get through to him. Meanwhile, Sara and Greg are puzzled by a case in which a young man's corpse appears to have the skin of a much older person, and Ecklie's estranged daughter Morgan Brody (Elisabeth Harnois) joins the team.
