This enjoyably slick and twisty mystery thriller from Lost supremo JJ Abrams has a typically bewildering concept. In 1963 Alcatraz prison was closed – not for any financial consideration, which is the official explanation, but because all the inmates and guards had inexplicably vanished into thin air.
Now they are returning, hellbent on vengeance. Stumbling onto their trail are loner homicide cop Rebecca Madsen (Sarah Jones) and geeky Alcatraz expert Diego “Doc” Soto (Lost’s Jorge Garcia). But things get really interesting when the sinister, enigmatic government agent Emerson Hauser (Sam Neill) takes control. He knows a lot but he’s not saying what he knows.
