Death Unexplained

Series 1 - Episode 3

Radio Times
Review by:
Alison Graham

It’s a fact of modern life that so many last moments are caught, inadvertently, on CCTV. As this thoughtful series comes to an end, we see the final act of a young man on a London Tube platform. We aren’t shown the impact as he walks into the path of an oncoming train, but the appalled reactions of two bystanders say everything.

As we have seen, there is humanity at the heart of west London coroner Alison Thompson and her team. Mortuary technician Lenny sees the sad traffic of a working day as individual people with hearts and souls: “What made them laugh?” he wonders. “Did they like dancing?”

About this programme

3/3. West London coroner Alison Thompson and her team investigate more mysterious deaths, including a man hit by an Underground train and a plasterer who may have died as a result of coming into contact with asbestos. They are also placed on standby to deal with British victims of the New Zealand earthquake in February 2011. Contributions from the families of the deceased reveal the human stories behind the incidents. Last in the series.
