This modernised and horror-fied fairy tale plunges back into the woods. When a young couple break into a secluded, well-stocked house and, ahem, make use of the facilities, the owners (called Rabe, anagram fans) return suddenly, and only one escapes.
Elsewhere, Nick enlists his lupine pal Monroe for protection duty. Their uneasy alliance injects a comic, American Werewolf in London dynamic, which is easily the show’s best feature. Grimm has bite, but alarm klaxons keep whooping on the contrivance meter.
