Being Human

Series 4 - 3. The Graveyard Shift

Gill Crawford

The housemates have few needs, but what about baby Eve? Tom and Annie thieving nappy cream from the supermarket isn’t the answer, not least because the “war child” could be spotted, so Hal’s going to have to get a job. “Kill me now,” he pleads, when faced with the options; he’s not necessarily joking. It’s a cracker of an episode from writer Jamie Mathieson. There’s proper peril, a shocking death, more about Hal’s dark past and, best of all, great swathes of funnies. Is it heresy to say I’m not missing Mitchell, George and Nina?

About this programme

3/8. Hal is horrified when his housemates inform him he will have to get a job to function properly in the modern world, and is even more appalled when he realises he may have to work at the cafe with Tom. Desperate for an alternative, he turns to Fergus, who offers to let him go back to the vampire community. Meanwhile, Regus convinces Annie that the blood-suckers pose a serious threat to baby Eve.
